BAROSSA GOURMET WEEKEND 2015 – A DAY THAT WAS

Events, Food & Wine

I’ll be honest, I can’t remember the last time I was awake before sunrise. Ordinarily, I couldn’t think of anything worse, but today was different. I woke up with the feelings reminiscent of a kid on Christmas day, but instead of the anticipation of that Barbie camper trailer I’d been dreaming of, I awoke with thoughts that within a couple of hours I’d be eating breakfast by an open wood fire in the Barossa Valley.

Itinerary planned – check. iPhone and camera charged – check. Umbrella, lipstick and sunglasses packed – check. Double shot flat white – CHECK.

I picked up my partner in crime, Daniel (the man behind the lens) and we were on our way, Barossa bound.

Since it’s inception in November last year, The Market Shed on Holland has exploded in popularity week after week. It’s a place of absolute beauty in so many ways: the set up, the food and the people. I’m not the first person to write about this not-so-little gem, and I certainly won’t be the last. Brain-child of the same lovely family who own and operate the Gilbert Street IGA supermarket, The Market Shed is a place to see and be seen.
