Over a year in the making, Market St is the latest offering in Adelaide for our breakfast and lunch scene. From the team at The Central Market behind Say Cheese, Smelly Cheese and Dough, Market St brings a beautiful combination of boulangerie, providore, café and delicatessen.
Located in the old Indian Spice Market, and only a 30 second trundle from Gouger Street, Market St opened its doors only yesterday and by 10am this morning, all seats were filled.
Flooded with sunlight and open air, the fit-out is stunning. Crisp and white, a mini market place of fresh pastries, bread, pantry fillers and magazines for purchase.
So what makes this joint stand out from the rest?
All their baking and patisserie work is done in house. Past the counter and kitchen you can see pastry chefs and bakers working their magic while you sip your coffee and eat your brunch. French trained pastry chef Lucia and young-gun baker David deliver their goods to a standard almost too pretty to eat.
You’ll see familiar faces working the coffee machine and waiting tables. Service is on-point and the crew are passionate about what they’re doing.
The menu offers breakfast ‘til 11am with a perfect variety of sweet and savoury. Toasties or more substantial meals for lunch. Too warm for a regular coffee? Grab yourself a cold drip straight to the table or by the bottle to take home.
This place is solid and going to go great guns so get in quick, I’ll see you there! xx
